About the role

 

Canadian Blood Services is looking for an Associate Director, Strategy Planning & Integration to join our dynamic Plasma team. The work of Associate Director, Strategy Planning & Integration is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada’s Lifeline.

In this role, you will support the design, development, and implementation of new source plasma collection sites and operational activities to increase source plasma sufficiency at Canadian Blood Services. You will be the primary point of integration for the major project areas contributing to the implementation of new plasma sites and oversee the operational work at a detailed level. You will be responsible for the development and execution of project plans aligned to business strategy and objectives.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develops business plans, business cases and proposals for work to support the direction of the plasma operations division.
  • Leads the development, design and rollout of integrated project plans to increase source plasma collections.
  • Develops briefing notes and other content, and presents at senior level meetings, including Director meetings and executive steering committees.
  • Acts as a plasma subject matter expert to respond to media inquiries as required, and assists in the preparation of communications plans, and public facing content.
  • Monitors the project plan and budget to ensure the work is proceeding according to timelines, meeting targets and expectations, and adhering to established parameters.
  • Contributes to executive level reporting, in collaboration with the Director, Strategy Development and Integration.
  • Identifies and escalates all proposed changes in scope, schedule, budget and risk to the Director, Strategy Development and Integration for review and approval.
  • Ensures team members are effectively deployed to accomplish the goals and objectives of increasing source plasma collections, directly reporting to plasma and in collaboration with other divisions. Assigns responsibilities to all resources in a manner consistent with the needs of the work and the skill and experience of the resources available.
  • Works closely with the Director, Strategy Development and Integration to plan, forecast and develop the business cases, and the program budget in accordance with established budget requirements. Manages the costs related to project activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Education, Training and Experience:

  • Post-secondary level education from a recognized academic institution. Master’s degree in a health-related or business discipline is an asset.
  • A minimum of 7 years of recent related management experience, including the delivery of a complex project or initiative.
  • Senior level communications experience, including writing briefing notes, preparing and delivering presentations. Media training is considered an asset.
  • Senior level project management experience including accountability for budgets and schedules.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques and tools.
  • PMP certification will be considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to understand and incorporate corporate culture, process, governance, politics, strategies and stakeholder requirements into plans and projects.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret business needs and develop integrated, creative solutions.
  • Must be able to create change and effectively manage and deliver results.
  • Ability to communicate with stakeholders from multiple organizations and to provide strategic guidance in a collaborative, consultative and positive manner.
  • Advanced verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership abilities, combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment, providing the necessary skills to manage effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; being able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short timelines.
  • Competency skills in Microsoft software packages.
  • Ability to travel is a requirement for this role.
