About Us
We are a university of the land and people of our regions. True to the character of regional Australia we have gumption, we have soul and we collaborate with others. We develop holistic, far-sighted people who help their communities grow and flourish.
The Wiradjuri phrase yindyamarra winhanganha means the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in. This phrase represents who we are at Charles Sturt University – our ethos. It comes from traditional Indigenous Australian knowledge, but it also speaks to the mission of universities – to develop and spread wisdom to make the world a better place.
Harnessing technology, we thrive as a distributed yet connected community, welcoming and engaging with people across Australia and the world.
The Office of Engagement and Enterprise leads the following activities:

  • Charles Sturt Engagement Strategy 2030
  • Charles Sturt University Business Development and Enterprise
  • Initiation of strategic precinct partnerships
  • Strategic external engagement activities across the University’s footprint, including Charles Sturt Regional Engagement Plans and government relations
  • Public relations, media and communications
  • Advancement and philanthropic activities

The Office provides strategic leadership, expertise, and a range of services to support whole-of-University goals associated with its commercial and strategic intent. In achieving these goals, the Office collaborates with a broad network of external stakeholders. In addition, the Office works with all areas of the Charles Sturt community to build university capability and develop a strong and integrated approach to business development, community engagement, internal and external communications, government relations and advancement.
Charles Sturt offers a great work-life balance, professional development opportunities and generous financial benefits.
We are an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. Did you know that we have a Workplace Gender Equality Agency Employer of Choice Citation and an Athena SWAN Bronze Institutional Award? We are also a participating member of the Australian Workplace Equality Index. We encouraged applications from Indigenous Australians; people with a disability; women (particularly for senior and non-traditional roles); people who identify as LGBTIQA+; and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
