About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Qatar Airways Group Medical Division in Doha, Qatar as a Company Doctor.

As a Company Doctor, reporting directly to a Specialist Company Doctor, you will be accountable for providing primary medical care to Qatar Airways employees, to an acceptable internationally accredited standard.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Provide high-quality primary health care services to entitled Qatar Airways staff.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Respond to medical /health problems presented by clients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate.
  • Provide management of acute, chronic, and complex conditions in line with agreed protocols and/or best practice guidelines.
  • Provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to clients.
  • Order diagnostic tests as appropriate, in keeping with best practice guidelines and with awareness of costs involved.
  • Refer patients to other providers as appropriate and while acting as a gatekeeper.
  • Be responsible for appropriate prescribing, with accurate and up-to-date knowledge of medications, dosages, drug interactions, and side effects.
  • Provide low-level procedural skills, including but not limited to injections, immunizations, suturing of minor wounds, dressings, skin cancer management, intravenous cannulation.
  • Perform pre-employment medical examinations when required.
  • Be aware of and able to manage the delivery of primary care in an occupational setting.
  • Actively communicate and coordinate the care of clients with colleagues, specialist services, and allied health professionals to ensure the best quality of care is delivered to staff.
  • Record and maintain accurate, adequate, and relevant patient records using the established practice protocols and computerized medical records system including specialist referrals, previous health and family history, prescriptions, investigations, treatment, diagnostic results, registers, and recalls.
  • Be able and willing to see clients within agreed time frames.
  • Provide after-hours and/ or on-call services as rostered, including responding to the emergency mobile phone.
  • Ensure clinic records, reports and letters are completed within acceptable time frames.
  • Take responsibility and control for casework coordination.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to define tight timescales and budgets.

About you

  • Medical Degree. E.g. Bachelor of Medicine.
  • MBBS or similar from an internationally recognized University.
  • Fellowship or equivalent from a recognized College General Practitioners of Board of Family Medicine.
  • Experience in assessing the occupational health impact of medical presentations (preferable).
  • Able to become familiarized with the referral process to facilitate appropriate management of patients between primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare services.
  • Able to provide support and clinical supervision for other clinicians, e.g. nurses, healthcare assistants, junior medical staff.
  • Able to work alongside other clinicians to establish a culture of learning and professional development.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other members of the Group Medical Division team including participation in multi-disciplinary meetings, significant event analyses, and other activities that contribute to team development and improved patient care.
  • Ability to work flexibly to provide clinical sessions and support to satellite medical sites
  • Compassionate and empathetic professional manner.
  • Experience of working within a multicultural environment.
  • Understanding of complex issues, planning, and budget management.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to defined tight timescales and budget.
