Position: Director of Health Services

Component/Team: Health Services

Status: Permanent, 1.0 FTE Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Salary Scale: $97,315 – $117,263 annualized salary plus benefits

Position Description:

The Director of Health Services is responsible for all aspects of the Health Services and Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Management (HPCDM) Components. The Director works closely with staff and clients of the Health Services and HPCDM Components to ensure the highest quality and most cost-effective of health care services are delivered to clients. The Director of Health Services is responsible for developing effective systems and resources to assist the Health Services and HPCDM Team with the provision of services which will help clients to achieve their desired health goals.


Reporting Relationship:

 

The Director of Health Services is directly accountable to the Executive Director. As a member of the Health Services Team, the employee is responsible to the other team members. The employee is responsible for meeting the licensing and regulatory requirements of her/his professional governing body, if one exists.

Requirements

Skills, Education and Experience:

Requirements for this position include:

Education and Language

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration or a comparable field
  • A clinical background in medicine, nursing or health promotion or a related field
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written
  • Under the Centre’s designation to provide French Language Services:
  • French (oral expression): Advanced
  • French (oral comprehension): Advanced
  • French (reading comprehension): Intermediate +

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in managerial and program development positions in a health environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the community-based health system.
  • Knowledge of the broad range of health determinants.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications
  • Knowledge of managerial techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise staff.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to a cooperative approach to problem solving.

Hours of work will be developed in collaboration with the successful candidate to ensure a healthy work-life balance. A schedule of work will be based on the Centre’s hours of operation and program requirements.
