About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join the Stantec team. Working out of our newly refurbished Perth offices you will form an integral part of our growing Mechanical Engineering team. If the Mining industry is something you’re passionate about, then this is the opportunity for you!

As our new Junior Structural Engineer you’ll have up to 3 years of solid work experience and willing to join a team that works on all aspects of mining engineering projects, not only locally, but across Australia. You’ll be tasked on projects for a diverse client set, from ‘Junior’ to 1st Tier international mining companies.

The following are some of your key responsibilities:

Use knowledge of general concepts of mechanical engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects;

Perform basic calculations to analyze and design mecjanical system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software;

Assist team in preparing mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions;

Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practice:

Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer;

Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications;

Perform field work related to construction related activities as required; and

Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

About you

Recently graduated (within 3 years) with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering;

Work experience or a demonstrated interest in developing a career as a Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on the Mining or Resources industry;

Eagerness to develop key communication skills by dealing with a range of clients, stakeholders and commercial companies;

Flexibility as you could be asked to work from other offices at times including client secondments; and

Drive to work towards chartership.
