Who are we?

The Compound Company (TCC) is a privately held company specialized in developing and producing innovative plastic compounds. These high performance materials are used for solar panel backsheets, automotive components for light weight (electrical) cars, multilayer heating pipes for low-energy heating systems, improvement for recycling processes and many other applications. We sell worldwide under the well-known Yparex and Exxelor brand names.

We started with 3 employees in 2006 and now consist of approximately 150 driven professionals. Last 16 years all profits were reinvested in the company to support the growth. In the future we will continue our ambitious investment programs and growth. We are characterized as entrepreneurial, innovative, customer focused and solution oriented. Our compounds are produced in five factories: Enschede [2x, Netherlands], Roermond [Netherlands], Jakarta [Indonesia] and Cologne [Germany].

In March 2022 TCC acquired CMP Cologne, a healthy and profitable business that for years had been non-core under its owner Exxon-Mobil. The acquisition included the factory in Cologne, the skilled and experienced workforce and the Exxelor product portfolio. TCC wants to further build on the strong technology platform and the globally renowned brand name.

What organization are you joining and what does your playing field look like?

You are reporting directly to the Technical Head of CMP. As a project engineer you are part of our engineering team and responsible for the identification of technical improvements and the planning of projects to implement measures which ensure the high quality of our products.

In more detail:

You take part in the whole project process from the economic and feasibility studies and project planning to the execution and monitoring during the project process until the final documentation and evaluation
You ensure the detection of malfunctions and initiate measures to prevent damage to the environment and health and to enable smooth production
Furthermore you analyze, optimize and monitor polymer processing equipment to maintain product quality, quantity and seamless process flow from raw material to finished packed product
You perform, document, and improve measurements to monitor product quality using various measurement methods
Due to regular product development you are going to participate in plant tests and supervise the process
During all your tasks you ensure to work compliant with legal and corporate guidelines in the areas of safety, health and environmental protection
You manage cooperation with external companies

What kind of person are we looking for?

We’re looking for a person with first experience in plastics processing processes, preferably compounding, who likes to develop in an international, innovative manufacturing company with short decision ways and a team with hands on working mentality. Our company culture can be described as a mix of German, Dutch and Cologne (Kölsch) culture. You graduated from University (TH / FH) or equivalent, i.e. Chemical / Process / Mechanical Engineer / Plastics Engineer
You have experience in polymer processing (preferably background in extrusion technology)
You are familiar with applying rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
During previous projects you were able to show your organizational skills and talent for time management
You keep track of different tasks without losing sight of the goal
Working with MS Office products is part of your daily working routine
You have experience with an ERP system
Your fluency in German and English helps you to interact in an international environment
Willingness to support outside of normal working hours when needed, due to 24/7 production (only to a limited extend due to product testing, usually from Monday to Friday during morning or late shift).
