DESCRIPTION

Brown & Beattie Ltd. are Building Science Engineers that provide services to Building Owners and Managers in the effective evaluation, restoration, maintenance, and capital planning of their buildings. We present options and recommendations for appropriate repair programs to major building systems and oversee the work for conformance to specified standards. We provide building condition assessments and budget forecasting to enable our clients to effectively budget and plan for building repairs.

As a Reserve Fund Planner reporting directly to a Senior Reserve Fund Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for the satisfactory completion of work assigned to you and a growing team of enthusiastic engineers and technical professionals.

This position would be ideal for someone with significant Reserve Fund Planning experience and good knowledge of the Condominium Act, along with some experience with Construction Review and Administration.

The Reserve Fund Planning group is primarily responsible for the satisfactory completion of Reserve Fund Studies, Performance Audits, Capital Planning assignments, and Building Condition Assessments.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Liaise with the Reserve Fund Planning Administrator and Senior Reserve Fund Planning Engineers.
  • Strong understanding of the Condominium Act.
  • Complete field review as required in relation to Reserve Fund Studies, Performance Audits, Capitals Plans, and Building Condition Assessments.
  • Work closely with client Corporations and their Property Managers in preparing practical and conservative Reserve Fund Studies & Plans, in keeping with current Condominium Act requirements.
  • In relation to Performance Audits; advocate for client interests by providing technical expertise at Board Meetings, Common Element Meetings, Conciliation, and beyond. In some instances utilizing a capital planning approach to assist with settlement negotiations.
  • Attend Client Meetings as required, including some evenings.
  • Client development and satisfaction.

Overall duties and responsibilities should be expected to evolve and increase over time as the successful candidate gains experience, as-needed, and as interested where possible.

The successful candidate must possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while understanding that working in collaboration with colleagues is critical to efficient problem solving and professional growth. Exceptional time management skills are required as the successful candidate will be involved in a multitude of projects with varying and sometimes conflicting priorities concurrently.

You will need to effectively convey your thoughts and relevant information both within the company and to clients in a time-sensitive and critical manner. Since the position involves extensive site work throughout Southwestern Ontario primarily (though potentially elsewhere in Ontario), a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license are a must. This position involves accessing tall buildings, so the applicants cannot have a fear of heights.

Salary to be negotiated but commensurate with Industry Standards based on experience. Benefits available.
