Infrastructure Engineering is one of the major divisions within Global Technologies at T Rowe Price. We are solving challenging problems so application teams can focus on building solutions for our business. We are looking for a Mid-level Technical Project Manager that has previous hands-on technical experience within software or systems development.
You will lead all aspects of diverse technology projects, products, or programs. Typically involves multiple disciplines within the IT/Software function. Utilizes expertise and leadership skills to direct staff and to resolve issues related to project, product, or program goals and requirements are met.
  • Knowledge of the Software development lifecycle and managing small high performing engineering squads to deliver incremental value to our customers
  • Requires working and conceptual knowledge in their own job discipline
  • Performs a range of assignments related to a job discipline
  • Accountable for their own work and effective coordination of process and information with others
  • You will work independently, within guidelines and policies for ongoing work; may receive general guidance on new assignments
Role summary and job responsibilities
  • Demonstrates technical working knowledge to participate in a wide array of activities associated with planning and managing projects. You will deliver projects on time, within budget, and to internal client specifications.
  • With some guidance, develops the budget and statement of work for small technology projects, including project justification and plan. Responsible for monitoring project financials and updates plans with accurate, up-to-date information in a timely manner. Follows financial standards and processes (e.g., monthly external revenue accruals, procurement, and external payments).
  • Coordinates business SMEs, engineer’s technology resources to ensure project is appropriately staffed and resources are properly aligned and led. Maintains regular contact with internal clients and coordinates and reports on project progress and accomplishments.
  • You work with all required functions and groups to effectively plan and execute the project. Takes meeting minutes and distributes to project team.
  • You will decompose complex problems into discrete work units
  • Balances strategic and pragmatic concerns when solving problems
  • Makes sound decisions with limited facts or resources
  • Continuously looks for process improvements
  • You actively help project team members/make suggestions to improve practices.
  • Other duties as assigned
Business knowledge
  • Asset Management, FinTech, Domain specific to DMS, Corporate, and/or Investments would be a plus
  • Depending on functional alignment, understanding the life cycle of the product to the client in Financial Services would be a plus
Typical Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND 2+ years of relevant project management experience in infrastructure or application development. Prior hands-on technical experience is needed as well.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry with a preference for Asset Management.
  • PMP certification and/or Agile Scrum Management certification.
  • Operations knowledge for the assigned business unit (i.e., Distribution, Investments, and/or Corporate functions).
  • Experience with domain-specific efforts in large complex financial services organizations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of technology infrastructure and nuances, including testing, QA, production environment, test environment, engineering, etc.
  • Able to operate with clarity and efficiency with one or more SDLC methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
  • You will successfully implement an Agile technology program or project
  • Knowledgeable with many best-in-class technologies
  • Provides a clear and concise explanation of business strategy, technical concepts, designs, or implementations to a non-technical audience
