We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to work in Generation Design department in Winnipeg. Under the general direction of the
Generators & Controls – Team Lead, independently perform duties of moderate complexity in the field of electrical engineering for
equipment standard development, design, tender preparation, review, analysis & purchase recommendations, commissioning and
training associated with complex control, metering, and protection systems and their ancillary equipment in generating stations. The
position involves carrying out a variety of engineering assignments, which requires familiarity with broad fields of generation system
engineering.

Responsibilities:

Participates on project teams and takes a lead role on small to medium projects.
Participate in scope development and prepare studies, technical specifications, recommendations, design calculations, design
packages, estimates, manuals, commissioning procedures and other various deliverables for generation controls systems and
auxiliary systems for new and existing generating stations.

Provide specialized engineering skills in all development and application aspects of control, and metering systems for
generating stations, including generators, governing systems, excitation systems, Unit Control & Monitoring Systems (UCMS),
and ancillary equipment.
Provide technical guidance to technical staff within the department and other departments. Liaise with other departments,
divisions & business units for correlation of design criteria.
Lead commissioning as required.

Analyze quotations and tenders and prepare recommendations to award.
Witness manufacturer’s factory acceptance tests and on-site tests, as required.
Qualifications:

Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a University of recognized standing plus a minimum of six years of electrical
experience with two years design experience specific to the position.
Professional Member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
Working knowledge of software design principals.
Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces design and computer security.
Basic knowledge of generating station controls, excitation, and governor systems.
Proven ability to work effectively with various disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
Commitment to continuous improvement to both our business practices and personal skillset.
Basic knowledge of arc flash hazard analysis & assessments.

Working knowledge of electrical engineering design, codes, standards, and practices as they pertain to generating stations
and associated infrastructure as well as internal processes, procedures, and standards.
Maintain an understanding of applicable engineering/safety standards and legislation.
Proven ability to plan and execute design projects.
Demonstrated ability to work independently.
Capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others and participate on project teams.
Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence.
Required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e.air, land and water.
Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $44.27-$61.12 Hourly,
$84,833.84-$117,123.76 Annually.
