We wish to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE, 21.75 hrs/week) Associate Lecturer in Biology within the School of Biology for thirteen months, from 1 May 2023 to 30 May 2024.
This appointment is an opportunity for a person interested in teaching Biology at tertiary level to be employed to make a major input to our teaching programmes, both in teaching and in the development and co-ordination of the programmes.
Associate Lecturers have an increasingly important role within the University, and there is a developed career structure. The post holder will be expected to contribute significantly to a range of teaching within the School, including lecture-based modules and small-group teaching from first year to Masters level. The successful candidate also will support the Director of Teaching and module organisers.
Candidates should hold a PhD in Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Biology or a closely allied discipline and have proven abilities in teaching Cell Biology, Developmental Biology and Evolution. The candidate must also have successful experience of developing teaching materials, designing teaching programmes and must be able to demonstrate commitment to teaching, promoting knowledge exchange and development of the student learning experience. You will be comfortable leading a team and functioning as a team member and will be able to demonstrate experience of engaging confidently with students.
