Building Performance Simulation Engineer
Performance Systems Development (PSD) is looking for a Building Performance Simulation Engineer with experience in software development and with key strengths in energy calculations, quality assurance, data management and data analysis.

What will you do?
The Building Performance Simulation Software Engineer adheres to best practices for software development, data management, quality assurance and data analysis. You will develop automation, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts as needed to validate and implement data analysis requirements, workflows, techniques, and methods. Analysis may include development of automation to support energy modeling, and the application of machine learning to leverage sources of modeling and usage data. You will implement software development lifecycle tasks as needed as part of the PSD Energy Engineering team, contributing to a mission-driven, creative, enjoyable, and stimulating work environment.

This position can be remote (Ithaca, NY location preferred) and has a schedule based on Eastern US Time zone.

Need to Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong Building Science experience in multifamily buildings, or commercial plus single family
  • Experience working with OpenStudio – measure authoring and model creation/review, including PAT
  • Experience with scripting-based software languages (Python, Ruby) and workflows
  • Some experience with software development techniques, including agile, scrum and rapid application development
  • Demonstrable experience with data manipulation tools and techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of the basic physics underlying building science and the basic engineering equations underlying energy efficiency calculations
  • Experience in building energy modeling using
  • Experience creating Tableau or PowerBI dashboards
  • Experience in working in support of utility sponsored energy efficiency programs
