In a safe, efficient, and professional manner the Electrician will support the Facility Maintenance Team in the preventative, corrective, and general maintenance of plant systems for the client. Other duties include, but not limited to, daily assessments of systems, assisting other trades in performing general equipment maintenance and repair, maintaining a clean working environment, and other various duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager, while adhering to all safety and health standards. The Electrician installs, trouble shoots, and repairs facility electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, apparatus and devices. Has extensive knowledge of motor and motor controls, variable frequency drives, plc controllers, and power distribution systems. Should be familiar with low voltage and fire alarm systems. Uses guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations and EMCOR standard practices. Wears PPE and ARC Flash equipment while performing live troubleshooting evolutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and understand system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine configuration and purpose of system components such as compressors, motors, pumps, fans, switches, controls, ducts, or pipes.
  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment. Connects power supply wires to machines and building equipment, connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires, cables, and fuses.
  • Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, sensors, motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasking on electrical and mechanical equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed Electrical Apprenticeship Program or graduate of a certified technical school and achieved Journeyman status.
  • 5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 7 years related experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Must possess applicable certifications (Journeyman Card), licenses and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
  • Trained on NFPA 70E, Aerial Lift / Boom lift Certified.
  • Training in motor and motor controls, variable frequency drives, and PLC / BMS controls. Ability to read complex wiring diagrams, identify electrical components, and extensive knowledge in troubleshooting of control circuits. Must be well versed in the use of voltmeters, amp meters, ohm meters, meggers and amp-probes.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Will be required to use ladders, boom lifts, scissor lifts, fork trucks and other equipment to accomplish the job.
