The role is within the Conference and Events team who are part of the Directorate of Foundation Alumni and Events. The department is responsible for all commercial events hire at University, generating income streams from other areas of the business other than teaching or research. This includes events such as academic conferences, training workshops, filming events, exhibitions and dinners. In addition to commercial events the department has responsibility to deliver a series of reputational corporate events to enhance the University’s profile externally and includes public lectures, research events, Fashion shows, Learning and Teaching conferences as well as cultural and fundraising events. The Events Assistant will be required to support the team in the deliver of these events and the commercial targets whilst also being responsible for some of their own key account events.

The appointed candidate will be expected to contribute to sales targets and build income to meet ambitious growth targets; generate partnerships with business and promote the value of the Conference and Events function internally and externally. The candidate will be required to work with internal service providers to coordinate, manage and deliver the events and will therefore require operational events experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a drive to succeed, a willingness to learn and a passion for events.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (preferably in Events Management or similar) or equivalent experience. Proven experience in events management and success in a comparable role is required. The successful candidate will have experience of working within an operational events team, be able to demonstrate the ability to plan their own work with good time management skills in order to work to deadlines whilst dealing with conflicting demands and the ability to manage projects and priorities workload. Experience in Higher Education would be advantageous.
