Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking FPGA Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Cincinnati, Ohio location. As part of NGMS qualified candidates will have the opportunity to work various programs solving our customer’s most difficult technical challenges in the areas of RF communications, radar, and SIGINT. Small program teams with a collaborative environment require the senior engineers to be self-motivated, driven, and organized with proven experience to ensure success across the multi-discipline program team.

 

The NGMS Cincinnati team develops new capabilities for our military, intelligence, and other government customers. We solve complex problems developing state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions. FPGA engineers are at the heart of designing and implementing the most challenging part of these systems. Engineers who excel in this role have a background in FPGA digital system design associated with digital signal processing applied to the RF domain and wireless digital communication systems.

 

The FPGA Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplinary program team responsible for architecting, designing, testing and deploying next generation RF communication and SIGINT systems. As an FPGA Engineer you will provide technical leadership in system requirements generation, hardware selection trade studies, design implementation in FPGAs, integration and testing of the overall system. You will also participate in the modeling of advanced waveforms ensuring they meet mission requirements while fitting within the hardware and power constraints.

 

MSRAD

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical, Computer or related Engineering discipline with 2 years of experience; or MS Degree in Electrical, Computer or related Engineering discipline with 0 years of experience.
  • VHDL or Verilog proficiency is required.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading technical teams
  • Proficient in VHDL
  • Experience implementing designs with a variety of FPGA manufacturers (Xilinx, Microsemi, Lattice, Intel/Altera)
  • Experience simulating VHDL designs, ModelSim, QuestaSim or comparable simulators
  • Proficient with MATLAB/Octave
  • Experience with GNU Radio or software-defined radios
  • Experience with wireless digital communication systems, in particular modern digital modulation techniques and modem design
  • Familiarity with RADAR and EW signal processing algorithms
  • Familiarity with RF receiver development, including system link budget and sensitivity analysis, ADC and receiver noise analysis, and baseband conversion and processing
  • Experience in designing or implementing VHDL to withstand the space environment
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI

 

This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $85,000 USD – $127,000 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
