Fundraising Officer

Salary: £27,500 – £30,934

Hours: Full time (part-time considered)

Main work base: 525 Ferry Road, Edinburgh, EH5 2FF & home working

Pension: 5% employee, 3% employer contributions

Life Assurance: 4 times salary

Duration: Permanent

Holidays: 8 weeks per year

Location: Edinburgh & home working

Closing date: 12pm Friday 25 November

Interview date: 29-30 November

Role purpose

Working as part of People Know How’s Development team, the Fundraising Officer’s main role is to deliver high-quality fundraising applications, generating income to meet annual fundraising targets from across the fundraising income stream, including trusts, foundations, community fundraising, and individual giving, helping to ensure People Know How continues to deliver the most productive and impactful difference to communities aligned to the strategic vision, mission and values.

Key responsibilities

  • Applying the Fundraising Strategy and Operational Plan to work on the internal funding process, including writing applications and tenders, reporting, and responding to funding targets, key performance indicators, and audits
  • Identifying and securing opportunities for income generation including third-party events, supporter-led activity, and relationships with community and corporate groups
  • Maintaining accurate data entry of up-to-date fundraising information, tracking and recording the income stream to produce financial and statistical analysis for team members, the Leadership Team, and the Board of Trustees
  • Working with internal colleagues to support/attend fundraising activities through face-to-face and virtual digital channels, liaising and collaborating with the Communications team

  • Carrying out any other similar and appropriate duties as required by the Line Manager or by People Know How

  • Experience and demonstratable success of fundraising in the third sector
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to write and edit content for a range of audiences

  • Organisational and administrative skills
  • Creative with the ability to share ideas and work collaboratively
  • Adaptable, flexible, and self-motivated
  • Able to plan, manage and prioritize workload while communicating with line manager

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
