JOB OVERVIEW:

In direct support of the overall business plan and strategic direction from the board of directors our General Manager shall work with the various managers (i.e., Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Finance) and supervisors to implement monitor and enhance all aspects of the business including operational and financial performance, safety, productivity, cost & credit control and customer service. As our General Manager, you will use your proven leadership ability, creativity, and problem solving skills to promote KPI-driven performance in all key areas of The Company.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The ideal candidate should be an expert in engineering and fabrication of mechanical and electrical systems and in financial management, and overall facility operations. The candidate should be able to create and use multiple sources of information to identify problems, define solutions, and create and maintain clarity, focus, and discipline in our people and processes. The candidate must have the ability to define performance goals and targets based on the needs of our customers. The candidate should be comfortable with addressing whatever problem they face next, and seek to understand the problem thoroughly before suggesting changes or taking action. The candidate will display these skills as a result of past achievements in improving quality and maintaining a strong audit track record along with the implementation of new methods and systems with measurable results. The candidate shall be comfortable with prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously, along with supporting and developing your direct reports.

Primary Objectives: The most important performance objectives for this position are as follows:

  • Maintain and continuously improve measured performance in sales, costs, safety and quality.
  • Assume responsibility for budgeted and actual company P&L figures
  • Create measureable and meaningful KPIs that are approved by the board of directors for these categories.
  • Identify gaps between current and planned/desired performance and to deeply understand the current state of the business, identify root causes, implement countermeasures and then check the results and act to implement solutions.
  • To hire, retain, and develop competent staff members who demonstrate the willingness and ability to perform at a high level. Your team will gather data, turn it into usable information to focus our efforts, and then implement quantifiable improvements.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Prepare, develop and communicate project plans, policies, and objectives that are in line with and directly support corporate strategy and its key initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, oversight and accountability of all Project Management functions ensuring the successful delivery and profitability of projects
  • Provide on-going management of financial performance (Profit and Loss), and yearly budget preparation.
  • Monitor and ensure departmental/facility performance metrics are met in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Responsible to identify, review and then follow internal policy to make contract revisions.
  • Review proposals for all of the company’s projects and ensure project progress and deliverables are effectively communicated
  • Hire, retain, and develop staff who demonstrate the willingness and ability to perform at a high level. Your staff will gather data, turn it into usable information to focus our efforts, and then implement quantifiable improvements.
