Purpose of the Job:
The management of large centralized power plants and desalinization plants, including construction projects and business development, is increasingly demanding, also from a sustainability point of view, bringing new challenges on the fields of environmental compliance (including the carbon-neutrality concept), process safety, safety and wellbeing of the workforce, crisis and stakeholder management. At THERMAL AMEA the organization is established to address those issues in an integrated manner.
The Head of HSE is experienced in the Operations and/or Maintenance of power plants with the ability to influence the larger team in the following areas:
- Defining and promoting the highest standard safety culture and safety leadership culture in the THERMAL AMEA, vested on a culture of continuous improvement
- Strengthening governance (policies, guidelines, objectives, management systems, tools), including in clarity and execution readiness
- Promote proactive HSE management through the risk management approach and principles embodied by the PDCA philosophy
- Set governance for HSE controls and audits on sites and Entities
- Performance analysis, monitoring and reporting
- Sharing/exchanging good practices and REXs
- Supporting and challenging the Countries and operational Entities towards enhancing HSE performance
Key Accountabilities:
- Drives/defines and embodies the key HSE programs and initiatives in THERMAL AMEA
- Embeds HSSE elements in key T&S GBU and Group H&S projects and processes
- Develop proactive HSSE programs for THERMAL AMEA and its Entities in Visible Felt Leadership, Employee observations programs, Reward and recognition programs, HSSE Themes and Campaigns, and HSSE training programs
- Makes sure the HSE network provides added value to the business in its decision-making by supplying regular and qualified information in the form of advice, support, and expertise. Drives the maturity of said network towards having impact on the decisions.
- Organize governance through Audits and Controls to ensure compliance to Group/GBU policies/governance in place, including for contractors’ activities. Provide expertise and support to address non-compliance gaps and provide solutions to the business
- Ensures a strong T&S GBU leadership of the HSE network, fosters the sharing of information, competencies, expertise, and experience and drives THERMAL AMEA to build improvement on the current HSE culture that will enable to move toward interdependency level in HSE Culture
- Coaches and challenges the Country and Entities Teams, including Construction and Business Development Teams, in taking further ownership and leadership on HSE-related matters
- Develops and maintain the key skills needed to further professionalize the HSE functional line

Experience & Qualification:
- Master degree, preferably in an Engineering discipline
- 10 years+ of significant operational experience in the industrial world
- Degree and/or (certified) relevant experience in HSSE Management, incl. e.g. NEBOSH or other nationally recognized HSE certification scheme.
- Solid management track record is a sine-qua-non condition
- Candidate experience must demonstrate strong operational and HSSE track record and keen interest for safety culture and employee wellbeing.

- A qualifying operational experience in an industrial environment (preferably utility/energy, oil and gas/chemical industry, manufacturing)
