Industrial Engineer

Stainless Process Systems – 1650 Beacon Place, Oxnard, CA

BACKGROUND:

Stainless Process Systems (www.stainlessprocesssystems.com) is a rapidly growing world-class manufacturer of stainless steel processing systems and equipment for the Pharmaceutical, Aerospace, Semiconductor and Food Technologyindustries. With a strong reputation for high-quality equipment and excellent customer service, SPS fabricates stainless steel equipment both as an OEM and custom (based upon our design) equipment supplier to domestic and global customers. SPS provides engineering services to ASME standards for the highest quality fabrication or repair of pressure vessels, technical processing equipment and non-rated tanks.

THE ROLE:

As a Stainless Process Systems Industrial Engineer, you work with the customer to understand their needs and then design blueprints of tanks, vessels and equipment that meet their needs. Using your knowledge of ASME code, your designs will comply with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. You may inspect welded subassemblies and assemblies at designated points in the manufacturing process to ensure your designs are fabricated as intended. Working closely with the manufacturing team, suppliers and office staff, you will review NCRs, CAPAs and various quality problems to ensure problem-free production manufacturing throughput. You will identify and document the root cause of defect or reject trends and review these rejects and defect trends with the Quality Manager to identify optimal and actionable solutions to prevent those problems from occurring in the future. THE ROLE:

· Inspect customer supplied designs for manufacturability and cost considerations. Be comfortable making changes while maintaining overall look and dimensions of the vessel.

· Create blueprints to direct the fabrication of pressure vessels used in pharmaceutical, oil and gas, aerospace etc., using SOLIDWORKS.

· Ability to implement ASME code requirements in the design and develop fabrication drawings derived from code calculation software (e.g. COMPRESS or equivalent).

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and on multiple projects at a time.

· Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and drafting standards.

· Prepare bills of material (BOM)

· Assist in non-engineering related functions as necessary.

· Familiar with 2D AutoCAD and generation of DXF/DWG file formats.

· Perform pressure vessel design calculation utilizing COMPRESS software.

REQUIREMENTS:

· 2+ years of experience and a BS in Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution OR 4+ years of relevant OTJ CAD design experience working for an Engineering Company

· Preferably 2 years work experience in related field such as designing ASME pressure vessels

· Preferably 2 years work experience in SOLIDWORKS.

· Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessel code is a plus.

· Experience with fabrication processes we utilize: welding symbols and preparation of fabrication drawings for predominantly stainless steel equipment, process piping and/or other AWS, BPE code specifications, is preferred.

· Possess excellent design skills to create not only functional parts but also have a craftsman’s eye for cosmetically pleasing equipment to meet our customer’s high expectations

· Desire to work in a fast paced, small company fabrication environment.
