The Industrial Engineer is responsible for contributing to the design and launch of MAHLE products at our Tilbury, Ontario production facility. The focus will be on optimizing processes that match the tooling, equipment and facility and provide efficient, cost effective production lines that utilize operators and/or robotics in a mold and assembly operation. The Industrial Engineer is also responsible for problem solving activities and continuously improving current and new product lines in the facility.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with platform team members in order to develop and implement new product costs, layouts, flow charts, assembly equipment, work instructions, operator training,etc.
  • Estimate mold & assembly costs (hrs/pc)
  • Develop standard data utilizing stop watch, M.T.M. &/or M.O.S.T. methods analysis & standard evaluations
  • Maintain & continuously update ergonomic standards on equipment & workplace layouts
  • Participate in design reviews
  • Actively participate in “lessons learned” and apply to new programs
  • Actively participate in design and process F.M.E. A.’s
  • Review facility utilization (i.e. presses, welders, leak testers, etc.) with Manufacturing to establish capacity & capital requirements
  • Develop packaging for both purchase parts & finished goods. Set up new components in system & revise Bill of Material
  • Adhere to PCP/PDP procedures & complete all documentation in a timely manner
  • Identify & implement cost reduction ideas. Review all team-initiated cost savings and document actual vs. planned savings on a regular basis
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
The successful candidate will have completed a University degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
Experienced in an automotive manufacturing facility; plastic molding & assembly is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
We have a preference for an individual who has:
  • M.T.M. Blue Card &/or proficiency in M.O.S.T. work measurements systems
  • Solid experience with Lean manufacturing principles
  • Practical experience with Ergonomics and PDA ( physical demands analysis )
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, including GD&T.
  • Dynamic communication/inter-personal skills.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Bilingualism is an asset (German, Spanish)
  • Highly organized and possess good decision-making skills.
  • Must have demonstrable technical presentation skills.
  • Superb computer literacy, including SAP, MS Office
  • CAD experience is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of ISO14001 and IATF 16494 standards, as applicable to the position.
  • Facility planning and line balancing principles
