The Digital Research & Curation Center at Johns Hopkins University is seeking an IT Project Manager to help us solve intriguing problems efficiently and effectively.

We are seeking an IT Project Manager who will be responsible for management of the full lifecycle of software projects. This individual will execute project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered correctly and on-time. He/she/they will be responsible for developing project plans, running project meetings, defining team assignments, guiding project activities, monitoring work efforts, identifying resource needs, and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately.

The IT Project Manager will also coordinate with project stakeholders to capture expectations, use cases, functional requirements, and other artifacts needed to inform and support the development of the product.

  • This is a remote position working with a fully remote (and fun) team.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

The IT Project Manager will manage one or more high profile/high impact projects considered to be of medium to high level of complexity, performing the following for each project managed.

Leadership

Engage with the project sponsors and project team to define project scope, objectives, strategy, and resource availability.
Collaborate with, and frequently lead, technical experts and subject matter experts to contribute to the success of technology projects.
Monitor project progress and make plan adjustments as needed to ensure projects are trending towards success.
Build and maintain relationships with project stakeholders.
Facilitate project team communication and engagement.
Recognize project roadblocks and work with the project team to define and implement solutions.
Advise managers, directors, and executives on gaps and opportunities for systems or process improvements.

Project management

Develop comprehensive project schedule and work plans that merge customer requirements with project team goals and capabilities.
Work with key stakeholders to set timelines and expectations for project milestones.
Communicate proactively with all resources to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions, and implement efficiency improvements.
Manage project execution to ensure adherence to schedule and scope.
Engage with project teams to maintain effectiveness and efficiency in day-to-day project activities.
Direct and monitor activities of project personnel, identifying resource needs, performing quality review, and escalating functional, quality, or timeline issues appropriately to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
Lead cross-functional project teams using both project management and continuous improvement methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure that all project tasks are identified and completed within allotted timeframes and achieve defined objectives.
Create and manage project documentation including project charter, scope, objectives, estimation worksheets, schedule, milestones, assignment of project personnel, risk / issue / decision logs, action items, etc.
Provide timely status updates to key stakeholders, supervisors, and management as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree
Five years of IT experience, with some project management experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Experience as a member of a software development or product development team.

Experience with project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.

Excellent organization and time management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
