This position will provide campus support for audio-visual technology needs. The primary responsibility will be to assist in the design, programming, integration, and support of Audio-Visual Systems. Support includes maintenance checks, event support, responding to learning space break/fix incidents, and conducting or coordinating equipment installation and repairs. This position will assist in support of specialized learning and event spaces that require a high degree of troubleshooting skills. Campus technology consists primarily of Crestron and Extron Control Systems. This position will expand our current remote support and monitoring capabilities and requires a strong understanding of computer networking and physical infrastructure.

January 1, 2023- Utica University will start a flexwork program designed to give employees a greater work life balance. This flexwork program is an alternative to the standard 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, work schedule. While employees’ salaries, vacation and sick time are based on a full-time (37.5 hours/week) schedule, employees work an abbreviated 32-hour work week, with the flexibility of working either a four-day week or five abbreviated days. Supervisors will work with employees on scheduling to ensure the needs of the department are met.

  • This position directly supports the teaching, learning, and research needs of the faculty, students, and staff in the classroom setting by monitoring and maintaining technology to enhance teaching pedagogy.
  • Responsible for taking part in the daily operation of audio-video equipment, which includes performing routine maintenance (hardware and software), and training faculty, students and technical support staff on proper operation and care of related equipment.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of technical equipment and creates documentation on integrations.
  • Performs Level I support as needed in person and on phone by creating appropriate Help Desk tickets and identifying potential resolutions. Assists in Level II and III support for the University community in response to assigned Help Desk tickets.
  • Performs audio, video and various other technical support for University sponsored events both on and off campus.
  • Takes an active role in the development of the department’s learning space integration plans as required by department leadership. Works closely with the department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.
  • Promote a secure computing environment and ensure the computing environment complies with existing policies.
  • Collaborate with all members of Integrated Information Technology Services as needed. Participate with members of the Utica University community on committees and as needed.
  • Maintain a professional environment in which students can learn skills and work ethic.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Driving ResponsibilitiesThis position does not require routine travel using a University -owned or University-rented vehicle.
This position must have a valid driver’s license and be able to support off campus offices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Familiarity with the role that service plays in fulfilling user needs.
  • AVIXA CTS Certification (must obtain within the first 6 months of employment).
  • Crestron Core, Technician/Field Engineer and Design Tracks (must complete within 1 year of employment).
  • Extron AV Associate and AV Principles (must complete within 1 year of employment).
  • At the University’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
