The Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal / Legal Department, the successful Legal Advisor will be responsible for managing contractual reviews, daily.
In addition, other responsibilities include:
- Providing legal advice and assistance across the region
- Advise on business risk and propose mitigation steps whilst supporting business growth plans
- Help to drive delivery of the legal functional and group objectives
- Champion best practice ensuring recruitment practices and procedures exceed minimum standards
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external contacts to drive compliant operations
Commercial Contracts/Agreements
- Review and advise the business on terms of business, highlighting risks by reference to the group’s risk framework
- Offer alternatives or additions to complex contracts whilst maintaining commercial integrity
- Draw up complex contract templates for the use of the administration team
- Drawing up varying legal agreements for the region
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts by negotiating directly with clients and suppliers, as required
- Implementing and advising on the group’s risk framework (authority matrix)
- Advise subordinates/consultants/managers on best practice issues
- Act as a figurehead for Best Practice internally, ensuring that all consultants that join the business are fully aware on internal practices and the service the team offers.
- Involved were necessary for speaking directly with clients and negotiating more complex elements of commercial terms (Liabilities, warranties)
- Act as a support to operations/mobility for drawing up internal terms/contracts
Compliance Projects
- Implement compliance rules for doing business in each territory in which the group operates. Monitor compliance with and exceptions to those rules.
- Assist in the evolution and maintenance of the group’s compliance programme to ensure appropriate controls are in place covering such areas as anti-bribery and compliance, sanctions, money laundering, tax compliance, etc
- Assist in ensuring that all businesses are compliant with country-specific data protection laws
- Assist in the production of reports on key legal and compliance KPIs demonstrating functional effectiveness and value.
- Horizon watch to ensure legal changes and developments in which the group operates in are anticipated and acted upon
- Involvement in any strategic legal/compliance project, as required
Commercial Legislation
- As directed by the Head of Legal, provide support to Finance and Sales in recovering aged or problem debt as well as identified backdoor fees through available legal mechanisms.
Employment
- As directed by the Head of Legal, provide legal support in relation to employment-related projects and/or matters.
Training & Awareness
- Preparing and delivering legal training presentations and training and coaching sales staff on legal and compliance processes
- Horizon watch to ensure legal changes and developments in which the group operates in are anticipated and acted upon
About You
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a legal/business discipline and/or proven experience in a similar legal/commercial role
- Previous knowledge of reviewing different contract legal/commercial terms
- Experience in undertaking legal, commercial & contractual reviews and the preparation of contractual summaries
- Experience in negotiating contracts terms to successful close out
- A high level of legal/commercial awareness including knowledge of current contract legislation
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a highly pressurised and driven environment
- Ability to think ahead, foresee potential problems and identify new opportunities and create new and innovative approaches to work-related issues
- Must hold permanent working rights in the UK upon application
