Mental Health Associates help to provide a caring safe healing environment for our patients.
As a Mental Health Associate you will work with a collaborative care team providing patients with the best care and support. You’ll work with psychiatrists, physician assistants, occupational therapists, nurses, social workers and more. You will provide patient care to patients experiencing mental illness(es) and their families using de-escalation skills, group dynamics and facilitation. This includes assisting with crisis management, therapeutic programming and milieu management as member of the Mental Health Care team. In addition, this position performs activities of daily living (ADLs) on a daily basis, provides patient care treatments including restraint monitoring, and collects patient data including vital signs, weights, intake & output. This position also collects routine patient specimens such as urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose as directed. Mental Health Associates respond to call lights and requests, and assist nurses with procedures as requested. This position also documents and charts care provided in the electronic health record. This role is instrumental in addressing emergent and urgent issues as needed as well as performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Completion of a post-secondary education program in behavioral sciences OR completion of one year of a post-secondary education in behavioral sciences OR has at least 1 year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness OR 1 year of similar related health care experience as applicable.
Licensure/Registration/Certification:
Current CPR/BLS certification
