Optical Device Design Engineer

Job Description:

As a successful candidate you will act as a key member of our new product development team and be responsible for the design, development, and validation of next generation semiconductor laser products for 5G, Silicon Photonics and emerging optical markets. You will be challenged by collaborating beyond device design with our Silicon Photonics and RF groups. You will be working in an agile environment where your broad skill set will be utilized and further developed.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulation, testing and analysis of directly modulated and CW semiconductor laser products.
  • Work with process development and product engineering teams to define fabrication process, mask layout, process flow and test requirements.
  • Perform FMEA analyses.
  • Co-ordinate and cross-teamwork among multiple MACOM sites including Silicon Photonics, RF and wafer-fab to deliver cost effective product solutions in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • PhD or MS in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the optoelectronics/photonic field with a proven track record in laser development/manufacture.
  • Excellent familiarity with CW and high-speed measurements, reliability testing, and qualification standards and strong characterization skills.
  • Self-motivated, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
