Research Associate-Proteomics and Biochemistry

A Research Associate (RA) position is available at the Khalifa Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (KCGEB), United Arab Emirates University to study the interaction of gene-specific transcription factors with mediator subunits and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) with nuclear proteins, which is one of the critical mechanisms for mediator and lncRNAs to perform multiple essential functions. RA will be involved in the identification and characterization of candidate interacting proteins using pull-down and co-immunoprecipitation assays, spectrometry, blue native PAGE, and Western blots, followed by yeast two-hybrid (Y2H)-based confirmation and mutant characterization using confocal microscopy. Furthermore, the successful candidate will play a critical role in the identification and characterization of proteins involved in plant-microbe interactions using proteomics techniques.
