Senior Finance Analyst, Business partner

We believe in empowering our team to lead and take ownership of the role. This position is part of the Travel Solutions Agency Finance Group. The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for deal revenue analysis, reporting and providing analytic support to various teams. This position demands good financial and analytical acumen, with paramount responsibilities including deal support, revenue management, financial performance reporting, business partnering with various teams and related ad hoc deliverables.

The incumbent will be responsible for providing in depth analysis for the region to support future commercial performance and understand impact of sales and strategic initiatives.  From an analytical perspective, success in this role will be determined by the ability to distill external reference points along with internal data to identify, communicate and help implement data driven recommendations to improve business performance. In practice this means the Financial Analyst –will have the analytical and abstract reasoning skills to synthesize complex and detailed data and information into meaningful insights.

 

Position Responsibilities

Support commercial process:

  • Serve as the primary point person for all agency deals leading the process from inception to completion.
  • Support the evolution of the deal review process by driving improvements to the quality of the deals approved.
  • Support resolution of commercial complications with customers

 

Support critical recurring and ad-hoc commercial reporting and analysis to drive the business:

  • Support leadership with financial analysis and modelling as needed to support target achievement.
  • Review actual sales performance relative to targets for volume and incentives.
  • Execute specialized customer analysis to support increased market penetration and share of customer wallet.
  • Support Regional Vice-President for business review meetings with customers and Travel Solutions Leadership.
  • Build models to assess the impact of strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting process from commercial finance by partnering with FP&A to provide deal analytics and implementation
  • Develop an understanding of opportunities to drive value to the organization by developing high quality reporting on deal performance, profitability and KPIs.
  • Successfully manage multiple deals to assure timely processing of approval requests up to executive management.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and Contracts colleagues in other geographies to assure consistency of deal management practices and development of process/policy improvement opportunities.

 

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Versatile communication skills, including the ability to take an independent stance on issues while maintaining a collaborative style.
  • Results oriented, passionate and demonstrates a bias to action. Always meets commitments. Pragmatic and tough minded.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly analytical, with sound decision-making skills
  • Ability to translate outcomes of commercial decision making into impact upon EBITDA
  • Strong Microsoft Excel modeling skills (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX, MATCH).
  • Familiarity to Business objects, SAP and SQL experience is a plus.
  • Desirable – a solid understanding of Sabre, the travel industry and the airline world or a demonstrated aptitude to quickly acquire and deploy complex, technical and commercial expertise.
  • Ability to work in flexible work hours during periods of higher volume deal flow or to meet large deal response deadlines

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (MBA preferred).
  • 3+ years of applicable analytical experience
  • Technology or software sector experience (preferred).
