This is a position in our design department to concept, develop, engineer and manage the design of custom conveyors and material handling equipment. It will be necessary to both be the single point of contact for projects as well as providing guidance to designers on projects.
Responsibilities:
- Design conveyors and related mechanical equipment in CAD, developing upper level assembly drawings.
- Assist estimating with equipment concepting for new quote requests and projects.
- Gather the necessary project information to follow the Customer’s requirements and specifications.
- Select purchased parts such as: motors, reducers, bearings, sprockets, pneumatic cylinders and related mechanical components
- Perform necessary engineering calculations.
- Communicate with the Customer throughout the duration of the project.
- Attend kick-off meetings and run-offs, when necessary.
- Determine specific fabrication procedures and answer questions from the shop regarding the equipment fabrication.
- Understand what was quoted to maintain the project schedule and budget.
- Assist in coordinating outside processes, such as machine shops, laser cutters, powder-coating and electrical sub-contractors.
Requirements:
- Several years of experience working with mechanical equipment, sheet metal and light structural fabrication.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with 3D solid model software, such as Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
- Skills with Microsoft Excel and Word for routine organization and communication
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with power transmission, pneumatics, basic electrical controls and general metal fabrication.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
