Water
With more than 3,200 Water professionals in all major markets throughout the United States and Canada, AECOM’s Water business line leverages nearly a century of local, national and international project experience to provide today’s municipalities, industries and governments with cost-effective solutions to their Water challenges. We deliver our services—from environmental planning studies to detailed design, construction management, and operations and maintenance—to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Our public sector work encompasses everything from small rural communities, to large urban centers, to agencies with regional responsibilities. AECOM is seeking a full-time Registered Design Professional (Architect, Structural or Civil Engineer) with knowledge of building structural systems. The candidate must have experience with ICC 500-compliant storm shelters and/or FEMA P-361-compliant safe rooms to support this area of work, along with natural hazard mitigation and building science work. This a remote position, open to work from various AECOM offices, with the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as a fully capable professional in the area of ICC 500-compliant storm shelters and/or FEMA P-361 compliant safe rooms with minimal direction
- Manages communication and collaboration with full design team and client
- Conducts interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and develops estimates of technical efforts for projects
- Oversees the development and implementation of technical approach and the completion of complex work which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment
- May oversee the work of less experienced staff
- Meets with clients and oversees all aspects of the project to ensure client needs are met
- Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks related to natural hazard mitigation and building science.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related curriculum
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA)
- Must have experience with ICC 500-compliant storm shelters and/or FEMA P-361-compliant safe rooms
- 6+ years technical work experience in civil engineering with a structural focus, structural engineering, natural hazard mitigation, building codes and standards, or related field
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive rental vehicles on behalf of the company
- Must be able to conduct field work (including post-disaster field work), tolerate variable environmental conditions, walk on uneven surfaces, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- Due to the nature of the job, U.S. citizenship is required and the ability to hold a security clearance
- Must be able to travel on business periodically for periods of up to 7 days
Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters or Doctoral Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related curriculum
- Experience with ESRI suite of GIS software products including ArcMap
- Experience in technical writing
- Work collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary
- Ability to strictly adhere to Health and Safety protocols both in the office and in the field
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Maps, and other common business software and web-based applications
Additional Information:
- Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. For Colorado locations only, the midpoint – maximum of the salary range: $115,077 – 149,399 USD (Exempt).
