We have multiple antennas on-orbit and numerous flight deliverables occurring in 2022. Our missions include Earth Science (weather, surface deformation and change); LEO, GEO and lunar communications; synthetic aperture radar; and unique radio frequency sensors for commercial and government applications. Title: Thermal Engineer
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $110,000 – $160,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

About the Role:
We are looking for multiple Thermal Engineers that will support one of the following programs:
- INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasa-selects-new-mission- to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models
- SDC: NASA has selected Tendeg to develop a large rectangular aperture deployable antenna for a Surface Deformation and Change mission. The baseline antenna is 7×1.4m and operates at C-band and will need to demonstrate TRL6 by the end of 2022. - 2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO to lunar applications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform and present detailed thermal assessments of spacecraft deployable structures, mechanisms, and electronics.
- Work with customers to understand and define component thermal requirements, boundary conditions, and analysis inputs.
- Coordinate with design engineers, advise on trade studies and designs details, size heaters and select materials/coatings to meet performance requirements,
- Work with structural analysts to complete thermo-elastic distortion analysis.
- Define and execute component thermal testing as needed to verify performance requirements or validate models.
- Mentor and train less experienced thermal analysts.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and the Company.
- Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications/Education:
- BS degree or higher in Engineering plus 5 or more years of related experience is required
- Ability to work effectively with customer counterparts and present technical content.
- Working knowledge of thermal, radiation, and convection software. Advance thermal modeling using Thermal Desktop, working knowledge and experience using the CAD software (SOLIDWORKS preferred).
- Experience in spacecraft components including deployable structures, drive motors, control boards, heaters, and radiators.
- Prior participation in activities for NASA and DoD programs.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
