Job Description

David Evans and Associates, Inc. is expanding our Renewable Energy and Power Delivery capabilities and has an immediate opening for a Transmission Line Engineer or Designer. This position can be based out of one of our various office locations including but not limited to, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California or Colorado. The successful candidate will be well skilled and experienced in all aspects of line design and preparation of bidding and construction documents including specifications, plan and profile drawings, steel pole concept and loading drawings, assembly drawings, staking sheets, stringing charts, and guying and anchoring, quality control, electrical studies for utility clients and renewable developers across the country.

This position includes opportunities for career advancement and additional responsibilities including business development, people management, and group leadership.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical leadership in overhead and underground line design from 34.5 kV through 230 kV, or higher;
  • Provide quality control reviews of work completed by peers;
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians;
  • Develop scopes of work, design fee estimates, and support proposal efforts for new projects;
  • Manage engineering tasks: maintain technical, budget, and schedule performance;
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, team members, contractors, and vendors;
  • Communicate effectively vertically and horizontally; internally and externally.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering;
  • 6+ years of transmission line design and engineering experience;
  • Skilled with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE;
  • Experience in developing scopes of work and design fee estimates

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical with a focus on Power System Studies;
  • Underground high voltage design experience;
  • Capabilities with overhead transmission electrical studies, such as induction, losses, grounding, shielding and insulation coordination;
  • PE License, or ability to obtain within 6 months.

  • Potential salary range for this position is $75,000-$120,000 depending on location and experience
