NDARC are seeking casual Research Assistants to conduct interviews for the Ecstasy and related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS) in Adelaide.

About the role:

Your role is to conduct structured surveys via face-to-face or telephone interviews with people who regularly use stimulant drugs at designated sites.

Guidance and training on the survey, data collection methodology, drug knowledge and issue management will be provided via training presentations, Q&As and briefings prior to interviewing.

You will need:

  • Previous experience collecting quantitative data, interviewing as part of a research project or research in Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or, completion of year 12 with relevant experience or, an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience (a degree or currently studying psychology, medicine, health sciences, public health, or a related discipline is desirable).
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Commitment to conducting interviews in a respectful, ethical and non-judgmental manner.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to follow the UNSW Code of Conduct which deals with confidentiality, discrimination, health and safety, harassment, etc.

Expected hours and duration

  • This is a casual position and hours of work can vary. The team coordinator will liaise with each interviewer on their preferred availability to conduct interviews.
  • The EDRS training will occur late March and data collection period is expected to commence 3 April to 30 June 2023.

Pay rate

  • $47.82 per hour
