What you’ll be doing
The role of the Head of Brand & Marketing is to set the strategic direction, development, and governance of the Thames Water Brand and Marketing activity. This role oversees the Brand, Marketing, Creative Hub, and Social Media teams.
This role ensures all activity is outcome orientated and delivers plans that align with the strategic goals of the company i.e. increasing C-MeX scores and hitting Performance Commitment targets. Brand now drives the CES strategy and plans to address the fact Thames Water could receive £18m annual penalty. 50% of the C-MeX measure is based on the experience of “non-contactor” customers and their experience of Thames Water through different brand interactions. This role leads on the brand strategy, positioning, and platform that will inform the plan for the rest of the AMP.
This role is the Brand and Marketing lead in overarching corporate initiatives and strategies e.g. PR24, Vision 2050, Thames Tideway Tunnel, and overarching corporate narrative.
The Head of Brand & Marketing reports directly to the Retail Director and is part of their leadership team and is also part of the wider Thames Water leadership team and therefore has the associated responsibilities that come as part of these teams.
What you should bring to the role
- Experienced brand and marketing professional with experience in all aspects of the marketing mix, strategy development, and execution
- Experience in leading a team of brand and marketing and social media professionals to deliver the right customer and business outcomes
- Experience working in large cross-functional organisations to deliver a common goal using effective governance
- Track record of converting strategy into action
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Excellent influencing, stakeholder, and leadership skills
- Proven collaborator
- Experience in working, influencing, and negotiating with external agencies and partners
- Contract and budget management

As part of your role, you’ll be required to participate in a rota to provide Customer Incident Support, as requested by the Company from time to time. This may be by supporting our customers on the frontline as an Ambassador or being part of the team managing the incident as a Control Tower Lead.
