Summary

Pearson VUE is disrupting the way individuals get their certification or licensing, by providing the next generation of testing and assessment solutions where we are focused on creating a frictionless and seamless testing experience.

As a Frontend Developer, you will be part of the Pearson VUE Customer Experience team working on the development of our new Design System. You will be embedded in the Topaz Design System project team and their two-week development sprints but also available for projects that will be utilizing the framework. You will work closely with the CX Designers and Enterprise/Product Architects to ensure a smooth design-development handoff and be held to all Pearson VUE development standards. You will work closely with key team members to analyze, design, develop and ship new features and products to achieve business goals and improve performance.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the design, product management, architecture, and development teams to produce attractive, usable, responsive, and engaging interfaces for a variety of devices.
  • Make UI/UX ideas into prototypes, establish outstanding interactions from designs, construct reusable content modules, and ensure code maintainability.
  • Translate UI/UX design mock-ups to actual code bridging the gap between design and technical implementation.
  • Create components, patterns, and tokens for Topaz Design System for reusable use including code and libraries.
  • Implement UI design guidelines to ensure that the product’s client-side functionality scales.
  • Examine and improve app utilization by tracking essential data and proactively resolving issues.
  • Capacity to work successfully in a fast-paced setting while bringing in optimal flow for rapidly changing design/technology.
  • Build and implement Topaz Design System microsite.
  • Ability to mentor or advocate for the Design System.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in developing Angular and Angular Material preferred, React experience/knowledge a plus
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript, Typescript, Node JS & NPM
  • Experience in integrating UI with REST API
  • Experience working with JSON/XML
  • Experience in front-end unit testing tools such as Jasmine, Jest.
  • Experience with Design Systems, specifically with Google Material Design System
  • Experience with cross-browser testing and cross-platform compatibility
  • Experience with responsive and mobile design
  • Familiar with accessibility standards and can implement them for compliance with WCAG standards
  • Understanding of UX best practices
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of the application development lifecycle, code management, and release management
  • Excellent and clear written and verbal communication
  • Keen eye for design details

Desired Skill Sets

  • Knowledge of Java/J2EE platform is a plus
  • Experience in version control – git is desirable. Understanding of Dev-Ops process and git CI/CD Pipeline knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with Figma
  • Ability to learn, research and adapt to emerging tools, technologies and trends.
  • Capability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $100,000 – $125,000.
