What does the business unit do?

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria.

Data, Digital and Insights (DDI) focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. The specialist groups within DDI consist of Technology Solutions and Evidence and Insights.

Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to enable the department’s business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services.

Evidence and Insights leads the DJCS data reporting, analytics and modelling program, outcomes measurement and evaluation services. It includes the Crime Statistics Agency and National Coronial Information System.

What will the role do?

The Front-End Developer participates in the design and delivery of digital and online projects, products and applications to meet the changing needs of business units. They also ensure that the specification and design of new applications, major application enhancements and bug-fixes meet the defined business needs, align with enterprise and solution architectures and complies to standards.

What skills should a Front-End Developer have?

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Knowledge and experience using front-end development tools and programming languages including:
    • Web tools and technologies e.g. HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
    • Front-end development framework e.g. React, Bootstrap, Angular
  • Understanding of Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft 365 SaaS products (e.g. Power Automate, Power Apps, Teams) will be advantageous
  • Knowledge of systems analysis and design.
  • A relevant business or ICT Tertiary qualification would be highly regarded.
  • Appropriate project, software development and operations management vocational certifications would be very highly regarded.
