Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Head of School to lead our Education and Access to HE offering within our Education and Social Care Department. Working closely the Head of Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of outstanding teaching and transforming the lives of our students.

It is crucial that the successful candidate is able to lead on improving the quality of teaching and learning through the modelling of best practice. The applicant will be able to demonstrate successful experience of establishing a culture of high expectation of performance, ensuring achievement of excellent standards of teaching and learning and student outcomes using innovative approaches.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, delivering and sustaining outstanding provision in the School
  • Designing the curriculum delivery in line with the departmental strategic and business planning process
  • Contributing pro-actively to the business planning process ensuring effective and efficient delivery
  • Constantly striving to improve the student experience with a view to further extending opportunities and progression for further study internally/externally or into employment
  • Keeping abreast of appropriate curriculums on offer, advising on the most appropriate qualifications for students.
  • Working with the Head of Department to respond to national, regional and local polices by developing innovative models of delivery and monitoring their effectiveness
  • Ensuring high quality student enhancement and enrichment opportunities

Education & Training

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Level 6 Professional Qualification
  • GCSE 5 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 5 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
