The Military & Veterans Health Solutions Operation Business Unit is seeking a Mental Health Care Project Analyst with a strong policy background at the Military Medicine headquarters level and experience with mental health program maintenance. This position is eligible for remote work as determined by agencies operational needs.
The full-time project analyst will support a contract with the Naval Center for Combat & Operational Stress Control (NCCOSC), within the Mental Health Subcode (N333) of the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) in Falls Church, VA. BUMED N333’s mission is to sustain and support the psychological readiness of an integrated American Naval Power through a robust continuum of high-quality MH care programs and resources accessible to Sailors and Marines from accession to retirement or separation.
Please note: this is a non-clinical position.
Position Requirements/Duties:
The candidate shall work as a team member within BUMED Mental Health, particularly providing management and general administrative support to the military and government program chiefs and action officers. Headquarters level military or government policy experience is preferred.
This will include:
- General support for BUMED mental health programs and initiatives, spanning readiness, general mental health, substance misuse, suicide, mental health surveillance, and traumatic brain injury. This position involves significant administrative support to include developing meeting agendas, taking meeting notes as needed, maintaining weekly/daily/quarterly SITREP documents, editing/formatting documents per required templates, and tracking of mental health tasks and initiatives.
- Support for mental health policy, to include review of current mental health policies, revision, and development of policies, as well as tracking through coordination to final issuance.
- Development (e.g., draft, review, revise, edit and format) high-level briefs, information papers, and requests for information pertaining to Navy mental health.
Required Education/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a mental health field.
- 4+ years working in a healthcare setting, preferably mental health setting.
- 3+ years of experience in analyzing policies, determining if policies align with objectives and determine policy oversights and omissions, recommend new policies or amendments, and prepare draft versions.
- The individual should have knowledge and experience working with the DoD or government and preferably background knowledge of mental health and/or military mental health.
- Should have knowledge pertinent to Navy operational medicine and readiness.
- Applicant should have significant ability to multitask and prioritize, and assist in project management responsibilities, and provide general administrative support.
- Applicant shall have keen attention to details and willingness to take on a variety of tasks.
- Applicant should be able to function at multiple levels within large systems.
- Ability to travel internationally (current Passport).
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience working in the field of combat stress, psychological health, and/or experience working with active duty or reserve members.
- Project Management experience preferred. Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication, and technical writing skills. The ability to think through and solve problems. Team and collaboration oriented.
- Military experience or work in the military health care field. Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) and Military Health System organization and structure is desired.
- Familiarity with DoD or Department of the Navy tasker systems.
Additional Requirements:
- Due to federal contract regulations, US Citizenship is required. Candidates MUST be able to pass a government background investigation.
- The position is designated as a drug testing designated position (TDP).
Naval Health East – NHE
Pay Range:
Pay Range $48,750.00 – $75,000.00 – $101,250.00
