Job Description:

The primary function of the Plant Project Engineer III is to provide design support and leadership to project teams that are responsible for the installation and upgrade of critical systems and equipment used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The Engineer III assumes responsibility and accountability for capital and expense engineering projects involving facility or production equipment, cost reduction, process improvement, cGMP upgrades, etc. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Provides leadership, support and guidance of capital & expense project teams, to include: financial justification, project management, implementation, commissioning, start-up and qualification/validation.
  • Provide expertise in the area of design, modification and troubleshooting of systems such as HVAC, Plant Steam, and water treatment.
  • Perform Engineering calculations, specification writing, cost estimating, and project scheduling in a cGMP environment.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and provide project communication and documentation.
  • Responsible for the proper use of Engineering documentation which is required under cGMPs. Examples include: Engineering drawing systems, CCR system, SOP system, Validation documentation, etc.
  • Coordinate the acitivities of outside contractors, A&E firms, major capital and expense projects, management of multi-disciplined project teams, etc. Requires extensive communication and interaction with both internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge and application of regulatory requirements for facility and manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance to local, state, federal and international agencies as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering OR 10 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in project management and facilities engineering
  • Pharmaceutical experience desired, FDA regulated industry experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. AutoCAD is required.
  • Ability to write complex and detailed engineering reports, to document work completed, and to utilize and apply basic engineering calculations in a cGMP environment required.
  • Proven ability to interpret detailed Engineering drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, schematics, verbal and written instructions required.
  • Basic knowledge or experience with electrical distribution systems desired.
  • Managing conflict and influencing outcomes required.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs unassisted, 14/14 corrected near-point vision, exposure to allergens, working in aseptic areas and confined spaces, prolonged sitting and standing, and minimal travel is required.

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this position is $76,817 – $128,005 depending on experience.
