Site Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON

 

JANIN ATLAS, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction Grands Projets, specializes in the design and construction of major civil engineering and building works in Canada.

Janin Atlas is characterized by experienced teams sharing values of health and safety, quality, and operational excellence. It is involved in the realization of complex projects related to various fields of activities: transport, hydraulic and mining infrastructures, energy, and oil & gas, building, environment.

We are starting a major project in the city of Toronto, ON, Canada. We are looking for the best candidates to join our team and support the project delivery.

 

Project overview:

— The Ontario Line is a 15.6 km stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition / Ontario Place.
— The OLS project, is one of the three P3 contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, it is a design-build and finance contract for the 6 km southern portion of the Ontario Line, from Exhibition / Ontario Place to the Don Yard portal (west of Don River)
— The scope of the Project includes the design, construction, and handover of all tunnels (twin tube of 6 km each), 7 stations (turnkey for 1 station at grade and 6 underground stations) and civil works

 

Position’s Main Objectives: The Site Engineer is in charge of the production of a technical or geographical section of the project.

 

Reporting to: Station Manager or Civil Manager.

 

Principal Accountability & Responsibility:

Conduct and coordinate his/her own works section(s), or is in charge of a sub-contractor supervision.
Review and provide feedback on works methods.
Within the frame of the overall project, prepare detailed programme of the works she/he in charge.
Coordinate and liaise with Quality and Safety inspectors on a daily basis.
Participate in and/or lead task brieffings at the beginning of each shift.
Regularly review and update manpower requirements.
Organise and provide daily documented required records.
Assure compliance of the works activities with the QHSE and the contract requirements.
Prepare requisition orders and work orders.
Alert on any deviation or issue.
Participate in works meetings.
Enhance coordination between the different sections of the works.
Ensure that personnel allocated to the works are properly trained, qualified and informed through formalised procedures of selection, induction and tool box talks.
Establish and request the equipment needed for the Project.
Responsible for the proper use of the work facilities and equipment made available and ensures that the safety devices and all the equipment are maintained in sound working condition.
Establish the monitoring documents for the construction works.
Establish and preserves all the documents needed for his/her scope of Work.

 

Key Skills and Knowledge:

Expert level of Autocad software and other Methods’ software.
Excellent organizational, planning, execution skills.
Fluency in English.

 

Education: Degree in Engineering.

 

 

Experience: minimum 5 years of professional experience in Methods.
