Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine (CHM) comprises the School of Medicine and Psychology, the John Curtin School of Medical Research (JCSMR) and the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH). These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The JCSMR is home to the majority of the Research Technology Platforms within the CHM, which provide consultancy and services to academic and industry clients using high-end technologies and equipment. These facilities include: The Biomolecular Resource Facility (BRF), which provides Next Generation High Throughput Sequencing (NGS), Sanger Sequencing and Genotyping; The ANU Centre for Therapeutic Discovery (ACTD), a dedicated high throughput screening facility enabling researchers to perform high throughput compound and functional screens to identify new biomarkers for the treatment of disease; and The Flow Cytometry Facility (FCF) performing advanced cytometry services and also in the process of implementing advanced histopathology services into their charter, including spatial transcriptomics. These facilities are also service nodes for National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS): Bioplatforms Australia; (BPA); Phenomics Australia (PA); and Therapeutic Innovation Australia (TIA) and provide services to national and international academic and industry clients.

We are looking for a Senior Project Officer to provide high-level administrative support (ranging from general administration, financial, procurement, human resources, marketing and reporting activities) as well as implementing strategic projects. The selection criteria are quite broad as we are interested in applicants who have had experience in scientific research or laboratories and want to transition to administration as well as applicants who have worked in a business and administration role in a scientific or technology setting.

As a client-focused facility, effective communication skills and teamwork are essential, along with demonstrated organisational skills and commitment to meet deadlines. If you have these skills and an interest in cutting-edge and transformational technologies, we would welcome an application from you.

The University actively encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

ANU values diversity and inclusion and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to those of all backgrounds and identities.
