The Role

  • Fixed Term (up to 3 years), Full time
  • Level E – $193,758 pa (plus allowance and 17% superannuation)
  • Bathurst, Wagga Wagga (other locations may be considered)

As the Dean of Graduate Research you will lead, motivate, inspire and foster graduate research excellence at Charles Sturt University. You will demonstrate clear vision and a collaborative approach with a particular emphasis on development and implementation of strategy, policy and good practice related to Graduate Research management.
You will enhance the overall Higher Degree by Research experience at the University through activities such as benchmarking, providing advice on best practice, liaising with external agencies to leverage industry engagement and reviewing and revising policy and procedure to maximise performance of HDR candidates and supervisors.
To be successful you will have:

  • A doctoral qualification with leadership experience in an academic setting
  • High level of experience with graduate research issues along with international practices and trends
  • A record of research achievement of national and/or international standing through outstanding/distinguished contributions
  • Experience in implementing change and/or continuous improvement projects
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders

Closer strategic partnerships are sought based on the internationally competitive nature and relevance of Charles Sturt research and the opportunity to provide Higher Degree by Research students with a more comprehensive training.
The Office of Research Services and Graduate Studies is a key operational unit within the DVC (R) portfolio. The critical role of the Office of Research Services and Graduate Studies is to provide an integrated suite of high standard research administration and support services. Effective leadership of the Office of Research Services and Graduate Studies is essential to ensure excellence in research higher degree candidature management, research grants and contracts administration, research finance and commercialisation, research information management and reporting, research compliance and research policy development. These activities are undertaken through active liaison with internal and external stakeholders and a strong communication program.
