About us and Job brief

Thermisol – Thermal Imaging Solutions Ltd is a business specialising in sales and service of Air Conditioning Units and Thermal Imaging of buildings/switchboards for insurance purposes. We have over 20 years of experience in both the electrical and refrigeration sectors. Thermisol focuses on supply and installation of Air Conditioning units in Gisborne town & country, Wairoa and East Coast districts. We have experienced staff to complete installs, breakdowns and servicing.

This will be a versatile role, every day working on something new and you will be left feeling fulfilled with a variety of work across Air Conditioning. As a successful candidate you will be technically trained and qualified with a keen eye to detail and fault finding. You will be a confident individual, great with communicating (both clients and colleagues), fully experienced and able to work autonomously as well as part of a team where needed.

AC Technician Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair air conditioners.
  • Ventilate equipment and controls making sure they operate efficiently and continuously.
  • Perform regular maintenance work on cooling units.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions.
  • Install, replace, or repair equipment that has been damaged.
  • Make adjustments and do calibrations of thermostatic controls.
  • Install new air-conditioning systems and equipment.
  • Make plans and designs of new air-conditioning systems including their installation and maintenance.
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers’ requirements.
  • Assisting with customers’ queries.
  • Perform related duties that may be assigned.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 3+ year experience as an Aircon technician, and willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
  • The air conditioning technicians should be able to work in places where they are exposed to dust, fumes, noise, toxic materials and high voltage equipment.
  • They should also be capable of working in confined and hot spaces like roofs, crawl ways and attics.
  • They may also have to work in adverse weather and may be required to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, kneel or stand for long stretches of time.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
