Our Defence business, within SSCL, is on the lookout for a Head of Programme Management Office (PMO) to support with a high-profile Transformation Programme. We want to digitally transform military personnel pay and administration, veterans’ pensions and related services for military personnel including reservists, and veterans.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior leader to join the organisation and make the role their own! As the Head of PMO, you’ll be responsible for the successful delivery of projects, by directing, leading and driving the project delivery. The position not only covers running a PMO but also getting your hands dirty with the day-to-day tasking of the PMO Transformation.

We’re seeking an engaging, resilient, hands on and a solid relationship builder, where you’ll bring the team and the wider business on a journey of PMO transformation. Therefore, phenomenal interpersonal and relationship building skills and previous Transformation Programme experience are a must!

What you will be doing:

  • Managing PMO Team and associated areas
  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team in developing the maturity and visibility of the progress of programmes underpinning the strategy
  • Ensuring the programme is managed under a single umbrella and governance structure and that it’s underpinned by clear PMO principles
  • Supporting, monitoring and controlling the delivery of the transformation Programme and subsequent improvement agenda
  • Influencing, organising and directing project teams – setting clear goals and establishing priorities
  • Effectively engaging the customer, subcontractors, third parties and project stakeholders throughout the duration of each project, developing positive, enduring relationships (up to and including “C” level)
  • Ensuring that a clear understanding of projects’ progress, plans, risk and status is regularly, clearly and accurately reported, identifying and resolving conflicts wherever they arise

What you’ll bring:

  • Head of PMO background at a senior level, with experience of running a Transformation PMO or Programme Management Office with full lifecycle experience
  • Fantastic influencing skills
  • Tenacity and resilience having run a transformation PMO previously
  • Experience of running get-to-green plans for programmes
  • Risk management, governance and compliance background
  • Experience of driving cost efficiencies across large complex programmes
  • Ideally experience working within Defence

Employment Type: 12 months Fixed Term Contract
Location: Regular travel to Gosport and working from home. There will be travel to client sites and internal meetings.
Security Clearance Level: Current SC or willing to go through the vetting process

Salary: Up to £95,000 depending upon experience
Benefits: £6,600 car allowance, 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, private medical, life assurance, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund which is 3% of base salary
