About the opportunity:

As our client journeys towards becoming the preferred engineers to all architects that deliver remarkable buildings, they are seeking an Intermediate Engineer to join their close-knit and supportive team in Henderson, Auckland. This is the opportunity to join a company in a period of sustained international growth that specialises in high-end residential, multi-unit and medium-rise commercial projects demanding a high level of architectural sensitivity and quality documentation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design of new residential and commercial structures in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable New Zealand standards and building code, with a desire to satisfy target DIFOT.
  • Conducting site investigations and construction monitoring to level CM2 and CM3.
  • Ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with health and safety and legal requirements.
  • Taking ownership of your own projects and tasks. Illustrating an ability to coordinate with clients, putting an emphasis on creating and maintaining relationships.
  • Readiness to engage and network, exhibiting our company values and character, and representing yourself in a way that increases our target client base. You can step away from your desk and directly engage and liaise with clients.

This role will suit someone with all or some following background/experience/qualities:

  • Good understanding of design codes, standards, and legislation in New Zealand
  • Looking to achieve your CPEng with assistance from our mentorship programme
  • 3+ years’ experience within the structural engineering sector in New Zealand with exposure to architecturally sensitive design incorporating timber, steel or concrete construction
  • Experience in Seismic Design
  • Ability to think laterally about a project, have a complimentary understanding of all elements of NZBC (C, E2, F4, H1, etc.)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Comfortable with the use of Microsoft Office suite, Autodesk Building Design suite, MathCad and various structural analysis software (SpaceGass, Etabs, Robot, Beam Des, multiframe, etc.)
  • Most importantly, don’t take yourself too seriously, willing to laugh along with others in the office and add to a light-hearted environment

Salary: $75,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
