LEGAL ADVISER, (GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE AND STUDENT CONTRACT)

GRADE 8: £40,931 – £51,805 (with progression possible to £58,284)

Hours: 35 hours and 45 minutes per week (1FTE), Open Ended

Ref: CVRG070A

This post supports a number of key areas of corporate governance, ensuring that the University remains compliant with current and emerging legislation. The successful candidate will provide effective counsel in relation to a number of internal regulations, policies and procedures, including Complaints, Academic Appeals, Student Discipline and Fitness to Practice, Data Protection, Freedom of Information and UKVI. She/he will also provide a proficient secretariat to senior committees of the University as directed by the University Secretary. This will include appropriate committees and working groups of the Court, Senate and of the Executive Board.

 

The successful candidate will have a law degree or equivalent professional qualification, supported by excellent written, verbal and inter-personal communication skills. She/he will have demonstrable ability to make judgments independently and to provide effective advice and recommendation. Knowledge and experience of corporate governance and an understanding of the University’s contractual relationship with its students and a range of other stakeholders is desirable.
