Job Description

Key Role:

Support clients across the life cycle of chemical engineering Research & Development (R&D) programs as a process engineering or chemical engineering technical Science, Engineering, and Technology Adviser (SETA). Apply technical subject matter expertise and knowledge of the market to guide the formation and growth of publicly financed R&D programs. Characterize the state of a technical field, including the identification of state-of-the-art technologies and promising new technological approaches. Perform technical analysis to recommend technology performance and cost targets that are highly challenging and on the edge of what is achievable. Identify key technical experts across academia, industry, and national labs, perform technical outreach, and facilitate the formation of new multi-disciplinary technical communities. Review highly technical proposals and support negotiations of selected projects, including advising on project plans and technical milestones for long lead time, and complex R&D projects. Perform direct, periodic oversight of portfolio projects’ technical aspects, from set up to close out, aiding the client in managing projects towards clear and compelling outcomes.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research for process or chemical engineering in general and zero net-carbon or negative carbon process modeling
  • 3+ years of experience with a chemical reactor, process systems integration, and process design and control in postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles
  • Experience in unit operations, process engineering scale-up and industrial plant operation, and integration in the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with techno-economic modeling of chemical engineering processes
  • Experience with catalysis and the study of reaction mechanisms and kinetics
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Doctorate degree in Engineering or Chemical Engineering

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with ASPEN process modeling
  • Experience with working in a consulting environment
  • Knowledge of power plant integration, process intensification, gas-to-liquid technologies, or carbon capture, utilization, and storage CCUS
  • Knowledge of novel technologies and processes to produce fuels
  • Ability to be creative and resourceful when dealing with uncertainty, and to ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking
  • Ability to display flexibility and adaptability, and be team-oriented
  • Possession of excellent data gathering, analytical, problem-solving, and client service skills
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
