BASIC FUNCTION:

Applications engineering position is responsible for bringing together Pearson products as well as any thirdparty or OEM products, technologies/controls into efficient Engineered Systems and integrated line solutions that will meet customer operational needs. Compile all required documentation and option information, design system concepts, prepare quotes/proposals and present solutions to the customer together with the sales team.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
35% – Work directly with the sales team and customers to gain a clear understanding of the customer’s requirements, how the complete Engineered System should be configured, and ensure Pearson’s proposed solutions are highly competitive.
35% – Work with internal and external resources to effectively prepare supporting data for proposals for Engineered Systems and ensure an effective transition/hand-off to Project Management of won opportunities.
20% – Support the sales team through travel, Live Meetings, and conference calls in the presentation of the resulting Engineered System solution quotes/proposals directly to customer, as required.
10% – Work closely with Product Management to ensure the systems library and product portfolios are maintained, proper sales training is conducted and marketing collateral is effectively communicated.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Skills:
1) Ability to thoroughly complete tasks under tight timelines and aggressive sales activity.
2) Strong technical understanding of packaging industry product lines, robotics/case packing/palletizing/depalletizing and integration/layout/design of Engineered Systems.
3) Ability to organize activities and multi-task in a high energy environment.
4) Sound knowledge of sales and production processes (Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Machine Assembly)
5) Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation, and organizational skills
6) Travel required as needed to fulfill responsibilities. May be up to 20%

Experience:
1) B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience.
2) Minimum five years experience in engineering, controls, robotics, material handling and systems integration.
