Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

NHS Lothian is looking to recruit a Services Director to lead, direct and manage the operational delivery of Diagnostic, Theatre, Anaesthetic and Critical Care (DATCC) services pan-Lothian. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe delivery of patient care and services in accordance with NHS Lothian’s agreed corporate objectives and within the context of Scottish Governments quality, financial and other performance and governance targets.

As Service Director you will lead the development and implementation of a strategy for the ongoing improvement of patient flows for both scheduled and unscheduled care through efficient theatre, critical care and diagnostic services across the acute sector, working in partnership with the Integrated Health and Social Care Partnerships and Integrated Joint Boards to ensure opportunities are maximised to manage demand.

Reporting to the Chief Officer for Acute Services, you will be responsible for ensuring that all governance responsibilities are effectively discharged and that there are clear arrangements in place for scrutiny of assurance at each level.

An excellent communicator, you will have demonstrable experience of leading transformational change in such a way that promotes proactive visioning and delivers co-operative working towards innovative solutions.
